Craft Night
If you enjoy knitting, crocheting, or doing crafts, come and meet this group - you may discover a common thread!
The members of First Presbyterian Church live out their faith in many ways. Some of them include:
Spring and Fall Rummage Sales
For several years our Women's Association has been organizing huge rummage sales, twice per year, out of the Church House at 9 River St. There you can find anything from hardware, appliances, linens, seasonal decorations, clothing for men, woman and kids, sports equipment, and the list goes on. A large portion of the proceeds from the sale is donated to several local charities.
Youth Group
The Youth Group of FPC Hudson Falls is a youth directed group, under the supervision of dedicated adult leaders. The group meets during services each Sunday and the youth decide what they want to work on. They talk about things that bother them and what they can do to make the world a better place.
Prayer Shawl Knitting Group
These individuals gather regularly to knit or crochet shawls together. After the shawls are completed, they are blessed during Sunday morning worship and then sent to friends, family, and community members in need as a token of the prayer, love, support of our congregation. When we are not working on prayer shawls, we work on our own projects while enjoying good company.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry has been given out over 185 prayer shawls since first meeting in 2010. Many of the recipients are graduating high school seniors.
A Prayer Shawl can be requested for anyone that is in need of God’s love.
We meet the first Thursday of the month in our Church Lounge. The shawls are blessed on the last Sunday of the month. They are knitted or crocheted and lessons are gladly given. If you would like to join us, receive one, or contribute one, please contact Mary Dickinson, Diane MacIntosh, Diane Lapan or Sue Gilbert.
If you know of someone who would benefit from the love, warmth and prayers that are worked into each one, please contact the Church Office or complete a request card (located in the narthexes).
Prayer Chain
The members of this group stay in regular contact with each other to be able to provide nearly constant prayer for any who are suffering, struggling, or in any kind of need. To add your name to the prayer request list, please contact us here.
Wellness Ministry
This group has three sub-groups: a walking group and two functional strength and mobility groups. All groups meet weekly to support each other and to discuss subjects including nutrition and motivation as they pursue better physical health. After a time of discussion, members engage in group exercise to strive to improve the bodies God has given us. (Currently on pause.)
We are actively involved in our community by:
Donating regularly to LEAP Food Pantry in Hudson Falls.
Annually hosting Operation Santa Claus, an organization which works tirelessly to provide Christmas gifts for local families in economic need.
In addition, we provide space for other groups, including:
TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly)
Alcoholics Anonymous
Al-Anon
VITA - Since January 2020, our Church House is one of several locations out of which the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program operates.
