Our Ministries

The members of First Presbyterian Church live out their faith in many ways.  Some of them include:

  • Prayer Shawl Knitting Group
These individuals gather regularly to knit or crochet shawls together.  After the shawls are completed, they are blessed during Sunday morning worship and then sent to friends, family, and community members in need as a token of the prayer, love, support of our congregation.
  • Prayer Chain
This members of this group stay in regular contact with each other to be able to provide nearly constant prayer for any who are suffering, struggling, or in any kind of need.  To add your name to the prayer request list, please contact us here.
  • Wellness Ministry
This group has three sub-groups: a walking group and two functional strength and mobility groups.  All groups meet weekly to support each other and to discuss subjects including nutrition and motivation as they pursue better physical health.  After a time of discussion, members engage in group exercise to strive to improve the bodies God has given us.
  • Midnight Run
Since the early 1990s, members of our congregation have driven to New York City twice each year to work with Midnight Run to bring food, clothing, toiletries, and fellowship to the homeless of New York City.  Groups leave Hudson Falls in the evening, and are on the streets of New York City from 11:00pm until 3:00am joining with volunteers from other faiths in the organization's "attempt to break through the barriers of prejudice and fear."

We are actively involved in our community by:
  • Helping to host Hudson Falls' annual Picnic in the Park
  • Providing planning and resources to assist with Sandy Hills Days, our annual village celebration
  • Donating regularly to the Cornerstone Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry in Hudson Falls
  • Annually hosting Operation Santa Claus, an organization which works tirelessly to provide Christmas gifts for local families in economic need
  • Hosting rummage sales each year in the fall and spring

In addition, we provide space for other groups, including:
  • TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly)
  • Alcoholics Anonymous
  • Al-Anon

Many of our ministries have meeting times and locations posted on our church calendar, which you can find here.  To get more information on any of these ministries, or to learn how you can get involved, please call the church office at (518)747-3013 or e-mail us here!
